Sakhi Circle

Arts Programming, Illustration and Identity Design for Nazaria Arts Collective

Sakhi Circle is a solidarity circle for the women of Shankarwadi, a low income neighbourhood in Mumbai, to come together to converse, share stories, create art, and together build the first feminist archive of their community and their lived experiences.

The circle is run from Nazaria Arts Collective’s Kahani Lab, with the vision of building a safe, joyful and accessible ecosystem in the community wherein women are equipped with tools of creative expression and agency building.

A video message to be circulated via Whatsapp was created in collaboration with Nasreen Shaikh, the circle’s community facilitator, to inform women about the program and invite them to Sakhi Circle’s first gathering.

Informational brochure designed to create wider awareness about the program outside the community

Sakhi Circle is supported by the Kshirsagar Apte Foundation’s Mumbai Ekatra Ladies Local grant.

Kahani Lab is a community media lab in Shankarwadi wherein youth and women learn and engage with storytelling through the intersection of multimodal art making and social justice practices. .
